Why the cache and clock balance decides the gaming feel

Neither chip carries 3D V-Cache, so this matchup is a plainer story than the X3D comparisons on this site: two extra Zen 3 cores against two fewer, both running the same 32 MB of L3 at the same clock ceiling. That is why the gaming gap is small, most games in this test are not core-hungry enough to fully use the 5700X's extra threads at 1080p.
